Message from our Chair

We are pleased to share the first IKCC newsletter of 2022 with you!

It’s looking to be an exciting year ahead. We have many new initiatives, as well as some of the tried and true.

Later this week members of the IKCC Board and Medical Advisory Board will be kicking off the 2022 conference season and participating in ASCO GU Cancers Symposium. Keep an eye on your inbox for a highlights summary of the conference presentations.

As we move into another new year, we are growing with more Affiliate Organisations, maturing in our representation of patients’ values, and together supporting the needs of more patients and carers. We thank you for your ongoing commitment and we look forward to working together to reduce the burden of kidney cancer worldwide.

In partnership,
Rachel Giles
Chair, IKCC Board of Directors

World Kidney Cancer Day 2022

Featuring a landmark global webinar on 16 June 2022

This year’s World Kidney Cancer Day is setting out to create more and better conversations between patients, caregivers and doctors about treatment options. The campaign is grounded in studies, including the IKCC Global Patient Surveys, that show patients and doctors aren’t discussing available treatments. This includes access to clinical trials, which most patients would seriously consider, but few are ever asked.

This year’s campaign is ‘We need to talk about treatment options.’ It will include a digital and video campaign in 14 languages that will drive people to a range of resources, including The six questions every kidney cancer patient should feel able to ask their doctor.

On 16 June itself, IKCC will host a landmark global webinar, ‘Talking Treatments’ , where clinicians, patients and caregivers will discuss the opportunities and challenges of making every treatment decision a shared decision, and answer questions both posted in advance and asked on the day.

Look out for more detail of the campaign, which launches in April, and watch your inbox for an invitation to register for the ‘Talking Treatments’ webinar on 16 June.

Save the Date: Global Kidney Cancer Summit 2022

Mark your calendars – the Global Kidney Cancer Summit 2022 will be held on 13 -15 October 2022. We are excited to announce we are planning for an in-person meeting in Milan, Italy.

So many of us have missed being in person with the global kidney cancer community and the energy generated when we are all together. And while we have built and strengthened our connections digitally over the past two years, we’re looking forward to being together again.

We hope to see you there!

2022 International Kidney Cancer Symposium: Europe

It is an opportunity for physicians, researchers, academics, and industry professionals from across the globe to come together and exchange ideas that will direct the future of kidney cancer research and treatment in the ultimate pursuit of a cure.

Full details about the in-person and virtual symposium, including registration information, can be found here.

We want to hear from you

Calling all Affiliate Organisations! Do you have a programme or initiative that you’d like to share with the global kidney cancer community? IKCC would like to share it in upcoming newsletters.

Knowledge exchange is one of the foundational tenets of IKCC – because when we work together, we are stronger than the sum of our parts.
