Steve Pointon

Steve is a Kidney Cancer patient originally diagnosed in 2016 who has changed his life significantly since that moment. Following a recurrence in January 2018, Steve successfully underwent Interleukin-2 treatment at The Christie Hospital in the UK.

In 2019 Steve, who is a former senior manager decided to retrain and went back to university at the age of 39. Steve is now a qualified and practising Person-Centred Counsellor, using his life experiences to help people in their hour of need. Steve did this alongside a stressful employment tribunal victory for the way he was treated during his illness.

Alongside this Steve has developed a passion for patient advocacy, he was helped a lot during his health struggles by Action Kidney Cancer and has now worked for the charity since 2019 in a community role and is proud of his growing reputation.

Steve joins the board with a passion to deliver the patient voice and experience to the table.
