Welcome Letter
Welcome to the Global Kidney Cancer Summit 2026, the International Conference for Organisations Representing Patients with Kidney Cancer. We are thrilled the global kidney cancer community is coming together to learn, share and connect in Prague, Czech Republic. We are meeting here because it has one of the highest incidence rates of kidney cancer in Europe.
The first area of focus at this year’s Summit is building capacity in strategic planning and governance. This is foundational to organisational sustainability, and our goal is to help Partner Organisations not only gain understanding in this area, but also learn practical skills that can be applied to your organisation.
We will also address the rapid introduction of innovations in kidney cancer treatment and technologies. Medical experts will provide the latest treatment updates. We will also focus on how Partner Organisations can advocate for accelerated access to these new therapies locally.
Lastly, we will lean into the hottest topic of 2026, artificial intelligence, and answer questions about ways to incorporate the technology into patient organisation operations and advocacy activities.
Once again, we are presenting an interactive event grounded in learning and sharing. Through a combination of presentations and roundtable discussions, we anticipate an engaging and productive Summit. We also encourage you to download Slido to participate in live polls throughout the Summit, and Wordly for live AI-generated translation. The QR codes for both applications are in the online portal.
Following each day of the Summit, we will share an evaluation of the day’s programme. Please take a few minutes to share your feedback. Your insights help the Conference Committee plan the next Summit and ensure it meets the needs of delegates: Partner Organisations like you!
We hope you will join us to kick off the Summit on Friday evening at the Meet and Greet. Join us in the Alcron Bar at 6:30 to meet delegates, the Conference Committee, Board members and the IKCC team.
Thank you for being here with us. Together we are stronger.

To maximize your experience at the Global Kidney Cancer Summit, we encourage you to think about your goals, your objectives and what you want to accomplish during this time.

In these care settings, I managed complex patients clinical needs, psychosocial patient and family support, multidisciplinary collaborations, and initiated community resources to bridge gaps when healthcare disparities interfered in treatment options, activities of daily life, and/or threatened hardship within the family household. Throughout my professional career, one of the things that has remained constant is my desire to share knowledge with others and empower people to make intentional choices for their health and family, while caring for the total being; mind, body, spirit. We don’t get to choose the things that will impact our lives but we determine how we will handle them.

I have worked for the Association of Cancer Patients in Finland since the beginning of 2017, so almost 10 years! Since our organisation represents all adult cancer patients in Finland, I have had the privilege of learning about different types of cancer and how they affects one’s life. I have also been fortunate enough to widen my perspectives beyond Finland and I have participated in several international meetings and trainings, IKCC’s global summit in Mexico included. I’m very happy to be back to learn more about kidney cancer and take what I learn to all my colleagues and the Finnish kidney cancer patient community!
