Steve Pointon brings his unique personal perspectives to the Board with a focus on advocating for improved patient care and support. Following his diagnosis with kidney cancer in 2016, metastasis in 2018 and successful Interlukin-2 treatment, Steve became a dedicated advocate for kidney cancer patients, serving with Action Kidney Cancer beginning in 2019.

Steve’s diverse experiences contribute to his ability to support the IKCC’s mission. As a Person-Centred Counsellor, Steve works closely with cancer patients daily, offering support and guidance. In addition, he has collaborated extensively with global pharmaceutical companies, providing insight into treatment strategies and patient needs. Steve also brings leadership experience from a previous role as a senior manager in a large business, as well as from serving as a school governor.

Passionate about reducing the global burden of kidney cancer, Steve is dedicated to amplifying the patient voice in all discussions. By sharing the experiences and needs of patients, he aims to ensure the challenges faced by those affected by kidney cancer are addressed with urgency and compassion, contributing to meaningful progress around the world.
