While attending the 2015 European Cancer Congress (ECC) and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), Deb Maskens (Kidney Cancer Canada) participated in an interview with Bettina Ryll, MD, PhD, chair of the ESMO Patient Advocacy Working Group and a founding member of the Melanoma Patient Network Europe.
Deb and Dr. Ryll discussed the role of the patient advocate in medical meetings, and applauded the efforts of this meeting to include patient advocates. Patient advocates are being recognized as key stakeholders in discussions about treatments. It is their wish that in future, patient advocates would be further integrated into the meetings themselves.
