First World Kidney Cancer Awareness Day – 22nd June 2017

Why World Kidney Cancer Q&A Day?

June 22 will mark the first World Kidney Cancer Q&A Day – a day where the global kidney cancer community of patients, caregivers, family, health care professionals and patient organisations will raise awareness and funds for kidney cancer.

Kidney cancer is a serious disease that affects hundreds of thousands of people around the world and is resulting in a growing burden and many unanswered questions. The worldwide incidence of kidney cancer is predicted to rise by 22 percent by 2020 and the cause of kidney cancer still remains largely unknown. Treatment varies around the world and too often kidney cancer is forgotten.

Kidney cancer knows no boundaries and medical experts agree there is an opportunity for global collaboration to raise awareness and start answering the questions that will make a difference for kidney cancer patients worldwide.

That’s why the International Kidney Cancer Coalition, is joining together with organisations around the world to raise awareness for kidney cancer on June 22. Our Global Ambassador for the campaign is the amazing Juliet Ibrahim, a truly global celebrity and humanitarian whose Foundation (Juliet Ibrahim Foundation) gives hope to kidney cancer patients throughout Africa. We hope you will join Juliet and our worldwide team.

About the Quiz

World Kidney Cancer Q&A Day: People around the world will be asking questions and seeking answers to raise awareness and funds to help fight kidney cancer!

As part of World Kidney Cancer Q&A Day, we’re launching the Kidney Cancer Q&A Day Quiz. It’s an interactive quiz that tests what people know about important kidney cancer facts. When each quiz is completed, $5 will be donated to help find answers to vital questions about kidney cancer. References for quiz answers.

How will sharing the quiz save lives:

By sharing the Quiz broadly, everyone can help raise awareness of kidney cancer as a significant health concern worldwide. Through widespread promotion among IKCC Affiliate Organisations, the Quiz also aims to help connect those at risk and those affected by kidney cancer with patient organisations in their country.

Many Affiliate Organisations will also be launching fundraising activities to give a vital boost to their own kidney cancer support and research activities. Check out their websites and activities to help them raise funds for their country and region. We look forward to reporting on activities going around in multiple languages, time zones, and cultural contexts to raise funds and awareness.

In addition, through the World Kidney Cancer Day website (www.worldkidneycancerday.org), we will be tracking the number of completed quizzes worldwide and will be allocating funds to support top research priorities to reduce the global burden of kidney cancer. The IKCC will allocate $5 for the first 5,000 participants who complete the quiz. Other quiz sponsors are welcome to join us.
